SC 6 Navigation(Japan)
Mr.Yukito Iijima gave a detailed report of SC6 activities.
He reported that the Resolution of the SC6 meeting which was held 18th October in Tokyo and also the results of IMO/NAV 45 attended by Prof. Shoji who is ISO Representative to IMO/NAV. With regard to the standardization of GPS, Mr.Iijima pointed out that this work has been continued in IEC/TC80.
SC 7 Inland Navigation
Mr. Alexander Chetyrikin substituting for Mr.Rover Gromov gave a detailed report of SC7.
He pointed out the following mistakes of the Report of SC7:
Page 2,13th line from the bottom,‘1999-06-03’should be changed to ‘1999-06-30’.
The title of the standards in this report, which are now being developed, should be changed to ‘Ships and Marine technology’.
Page 8, 18th and 19th line from the beginning,‘EN12399’and‘EN 12239’should be changed to ‘EN12339’.
N 936, page.30 ‘ISO3674-1976’should be changed to‘ISO3674-1995’
Mr. Alexander Chetyrikin pointed out that there is a problem about who should be the Product Manager of the revision of the standard in SC7. Whether the 0 members in SC7 could be Product Managers or not. However SC7 would like to review the, revision work with inclusion of both P and O members and CEN members. This was supported by TC8 members.
The Chairman expressed his appreciation to the Russian delegation for their participation in TC8 Plenary meeting and asked them to participate continuously.
SC 8 Structures (Germany)
The Chairman, substituting for Mr. Schade reported that regarding DIS 15401 and 15402 -Bulk carrier standards, states that these standards are important ones requested specifically by the Secretary-General of IMO to the Secretary-General of ISO in writing There has been much political intervention, but the technical content is firm. The Chairman asked Mr. Abram that the only English version should be published if the French version has been taking much time. TC8 does not want any further delay in the schedule.
Mr. Shoichi Arikawa announced that Japan has proposed the revision of ISO 3434 "Heated glass Panes" for ships rectangular windows to SC8 secretary. NWIP will be circulated to the TC8 members from SC8 secretary; therefore he expects active participation in the revision work of SC8.
SC 9 General Requirements (Japan)
Mr. Shoich Arikawa, Secretary of SC9, gave a detailed Report of SC9 activites.

Mr. Arikawa reported that the result of the SC 9 Meeting which was held 19th October in Tokyo and specifically SC9 secretary confirmed that preparing ISO Standard for ‘Sea Trials’should commence under a project in which ISO/TC8/SC9/NG4 and CEN/TC300/WG1 have, joint cooperation.
