A. Guidelines on representative samples of the fuel delivered for use onboard ships; and
B. Guidelines for on-board NOx monitoring and recording devices;
and as a matter of low priority, when a demonstrable need is identified;
C. Guidelines on equivalent methods to reduce on-board NOx emission;
D. Guidelines on on-board exhaust gas cleaning systems; and
E. Guidelines on other technological methods verifiable or enforceable to limit SOx emission.
For this reason, most of the potentially new IMO/ISO links relate to managing and monitoring engine emissions.
IMO/DE has also expressed interest in ISO support to develop international standards for lifesaving equipment, bilge alarms and bilge monitors required under MARPOL Annex I on Prevention of Pollution by Oil, and other items of interest to the ISO/TC8 Subcommittees.

IMO Subcommittee on Bulk Liquids and Gases(BLG)
In July 1998, the IMO Subcommittee on Bulk Liquids and Gases (BLG) invited ISO/TC 8/SC 3 to submit IS0 15364 "Ships and marine technology - Standard for pressure/vacuum valves for cargo tanks" to the 4th session of IMO/BLG for information during consideration of revisions to IMO Maritime Safety Circular 677 "Revised Standards for the Design, Testing and Locating of Devices to Prevent the Passage of Flame into Cargo Tanks in Tankers." The ISO/TC 8/SC 3 Secretariat consulted with the Convener of ISO/TC 8/SC 3 Working Group 5 on Pressure/Vacuum valves for cargo tanks and agreed that the most advanced version of the standard would be submitted to IMO/BLG 4 for consideration. As a result, the ISO/TC 8/SC 3 Secretariat submitted the following paper, attached as Annex D, for consideration at IMO/BLG4:
IMO/BLG 4 for IMO BLG agenda item "Items of Mutual Interest to IMO/BLG and ISO"
ISO/DIS 15364 was circulated for ballot as a Draft International Standard in October 1998 and the voting terminated in March 1999. As IMO/BLG 4 was held during mid-Apri1 1999, a Final Draft International Standard was not available for the Subcommittee's consideration.

However, a draft FDIS was submitted to BLG 4 for information. Proposed ISO/FDIS 15364 is currently being finalized for submission to the ISO Central Secretariat. The BLG Subcommittee plans to revisit revisions to MSC Circular 677 at BLG 5 in 2000.
