Business cases: hull cross section design approval [design data to be exchanged between shipyard and classification society for approval of hull cross sections by rule scantlings, etc.], hull form model testing [design data to be exchanged between model basin design agent, and shipyard for hydrodynamic test, CFD calculation, design modification, animation], hand-over of as-built definition, manufacturing and design subcontracting.
Documents: Business processes description, EMSA Protocol including shortform, implementation agreement.
Implementations: ARM based translators. Primarily done with EU funded projects, e.g., SEASPRITE, CALYPSO, etc.
Canadian STEP center
Survey in 400 companies in Canada about standards like STEP, IGES, DXF shown that 16 want to use, 5 used but stopped [lack of vendor collaboration, lack of compatibility, capability of suppliers/customers, lack of information, lack of technical support, inability to present information, process incompatibility, functionality not available) - most problematic standards STEP, IGES, DXF. In terms of DXF, etc. the problem is not technical it is of perception.
