Beijing Background
Korean Step project started (3 years). Aim of the project is to contribute to the international- standardisation efforts for ship product model through participation at ISO meetings. The project has government funding (43%) and from other organisations (KRISO Research Institute, KAIST University, KR, DAEWOO and SAMSUNG shipyards).
The project will focus on testing the outcome from APs with focus on AP218 and development of ATS in co-operation with SEASPRITE (detail of co-operation program not given). Korean Class society (KR) wants to use STEP to exchange data and make on-line ship structure approval, to this mean a prototype system will be developed. DAEWOO will also develop a prototype ship piping database for outfit design. Project members have access to EMSA BB repository.
San Francisco Background
SEASPRITE and Korean STEP Project signed a co-operation agreement, access to the EMSA server was part of the co-operation program. Korean STEP Project have 15 people working full time or particularly with STEP. They had 7 delegates in San Francisco meeting, four of them related to Ship STEP Team. They are working on the ATS318 (see above) and planing to deliver part of the project within this year. Matthias Grau from KCS is helping them to understand AP218 to speed up the development of the ATS and additional input from other AP owners were offered by the team, such as AP216 leader Frank Stolte.
Lillehammer Correction
The Korean STEP Project team does not have full access to EMSA BBs server as reported earlier, they do have access to a snapshot of the data necessary for the ATS 318 development and other material that might be necessary for this development. (Uwe Lanbecker)
