The 2,618,687-cft chip carrier SOUTHERN ALPS built at the Marugame Headquarters of Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was delivered to the owner San Andres Maritime, S.A. in January, 1997.
Features：
1. This chip carrier is a flush decker with sunken deck aft and four cargo holds whose total capacity is 2,618,687 cft.
2. One of the cargo holds can also be utilized as a water ballast tank for running in a ballasted condition and adjusting the trim at loading or unloading.
3. The woodchip is unloaded at an average rate of 880 T/H with two deck cranes, four fixed hoppers and three conveyors including one shuttle conveyor.
