ALFONSO 27,500-dwt Open Bulk Carrier
The 27,500-dwt class open bulk carrier ALFONSO was delivered to Golden Helm Shipping Co., S.A. on January 12, 1998 at Setoda Works of Naikai Zosen Corporation.
Features
1. The ship is a single-deck, single-screw, diesel-powered open bulk carrier with forecastle.
2. The breadth of the hatch openings is enlarged to make possible vertical handling of cargo in the holds when the hatch covers are open, and each cargo hold is of cubic shape.
3. The cargo space, partitioned into five holds, is designed to carry grain, cement, steel products and lumber among other items. Lumber can also be loaded on the deck and hatch covers.
4. Four 30-T deck cranes are pro-vided to improve cargo handling efficiency.
5. The hatch covers are of steel weathertight folding-box type units.
