The 29,478-dwt open hatch bulk carrier SOUTHERN FIGHTER was built at Shin Kurushima Dock-yard Co., Ltd., and delivered to Fair Wind Navigation S.A. in September 1998.
Features
The vessel has five (5) box-shape holds with double-hull construction.
Twin deck is located in only No. 5 cargo hold.
The hatch covers are of end folding type and operated by hydraulic cylinders. The hatch cover of No. 1 cargo hold is 15.2m long and 16.9m wide, Nos. 2, 3 and 4 cargo holds are 20.8m long and 22.8 wide, and No. 5 cargo hold is 16.0m long and 22.8m wide. Twin deck hatch cover of No. 5 cargo hold is 16.0m long and 21.5m wide. The vessel has four (4) sets of 30 long-tons x 24 m-radius electro-hydraulic deck cranes.
The vessel can carry packaged lumber in cargo holds and on hatch covers, and eye plates are equipped in holds and upper deck hatch sides for lashing packaged lumber.
Each hold has a mechanical ventilation and dehumidifier.
