to confirm whether our efforts were in the proper direction or not, and whether it was possible to realize a merchant ship's typical machinery layout.
At that stage, we focused on handy max type bulk carriers which have conventional and basic equipment installed onboard and from here it is easy to expand to other kinds of ship, this is say, the applicability of our layout.
On the other hand, more than twenty drawigs of bulk carrier's machinery arrangements were collected and the basic layout of the main equipment and systems, i.e. main engine, diesel generator, aux. boiler, purifier, sea water system, fresh water system, fuel oil system and etc. were analyzed to clarify which arrangement was the most suitable one, and which was the ideal plan.
At present, certain shipyards have agreed to jointly study in this project and have begun a technical study in consideration of applying module units to achieve a unified design of engine room layout/arrangement.

From the view point of DESIGN:
Considering the merit of including the shipowner at this stage of component design of the main equipment, like the main engine, the shipowner can usually see design diiferences
