3: Standardization of the Engine Machinery Layout
From the view point of OPERATION:
In the event that fires or black-outs occur, there is a question of how many crew members could possibly find their escape route outside the engine room in utter darkness.
From the viewpoint of safety, we also believe that the standardization of the engine room layout is a necessity. The intentions of this effort can be attributed to the following; to achieve high reliability and safety.
a. Reduction of operation and handling error by familiarizing the ship's crew on the ship's system and layout.
b. Uniformity of the shipyards' specifications and workmanship quality and technical expertise.
c. Unified, functional and compact engine room layout.
d. Fire prevention taking into consideration the actual fuel and lubrication oil pipes in the engine room
In our feasibility study, we began by collecting feedback and data from four shipyards
