Workshop Recommendation
Background
- Drilling is an indispensable tool in moder Earth science research as it provides the only means of obtaining direct information on processes operating at depth and allows detenDination of in-situ properties of soiids, fluids and associated biological communities. In addition the drill hole may be used as a geological laboratory for experiments and observatory for long-term monitoring.
- Earth drilling, therefore, plays a critic〜1 role in scientific research directed towards improved understanding of many different parts of the Earth system.
