SUMMARY

Executive Summary: This document contains proposals for draft amendments, during MSC 70 to resolution A.827(19), Annex 2 "Rules and recommendations on navigation through the Strait of Istanbul, the Strait of Çanakkale and the Marmara Sea".

1    With reference to section 3 of the NAV Sub-Committee's report (NAV 44/14) the Republic of Bulgaria submits amended Rules and Recommendations on Navigation though the Straits of Istanbul, Canakkale and the Marmara Sea together with explanations thereon as follows:

(ANNEX 2)

RULES AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON NAVIGATION THROUGH THE STRAIT OF
ISTANBUL, THE STRAIT OF CANAKKALE AND THE MARMARA SEA*

1 USE OF SHIP'S ROUTEING

1.1 Vessels navigating in the straits* "Marmara sea" and the approaches to the entrances of the "Strait of Istanbul and "strait of canakkale" shall exercise full diligence and regard for the requirements of the traffic separation schemes (TSSs).

 


*(Hereinafter referred to as the Straits).

     *Proposed amendments and additions are in shading and strike-out text is proposed deletion. The normally printed text reproduces Rules and Recommendations on Navigation though the Straits of Istanbul, Çanakkale and the Mannara Sea adopted by IMO earlier (SN/Circ. 166 dated 1 June 1994).
