.3 The radar and radio facilities
to be modernized, in connection with the establishment of
a modern VTS system according to the provisions of
resolution A.857(20).
Pilotage
.4 The pilot boarding places to
be relocated in a safer location outside the traffic
lanes of the TSS, taking also into consideration the
meterological conditions prevailing at each time.
Ships waiting at the entrances of the straits
for permission to proceed through
.5 New anchorage areas to be
designated for vessels waiting permission to enter the
Straits in a safer position.
General Principles
7 The view of Greece is that the
above-mentioned should be developed in such a manner that
does not affect or prejudice the rights of any ships using
the Straits under International law, including the United
Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 and the 1936
Montreux Convention and to ensure the freedom and safety of
navigation in the area. To this end reference is made to
resolution A.827(19) which contains the above-mentioned
principles, and therefore it is considered absolutely
necessary.that the spirit and the essence of this resolution
to be reflected in the instrument to be developed.
