In general, transformers and condensers should be carried in leakproof metal
packagings which are capable of holding, in addition to the transformers and
condensers, at least 1.25 times the volume of the liquid present in them. There should
be sufficient inert absorbent material in the packagings to absorb at least 1.1 times the
volume of liquid which is contained in the transformers or condensers. Tue
transformers or condensers should not be overstowed.
Notwithstanding the above, Iiquids and solids not packaged in accordance with table 1
or 2 of the introduction to class 6.1 and unpackaged transformers and condensers
should be stowed in cargo transport units fitted with a leakproof metal tray to a height
of 800mm, containing sufficient inert absorbent material to absorb at least 1.1 times
the volume of any free liquid.
Adequate provision should be made to seal the transformers and condensers to ensure
that leakage during transport is minimized."
