● more activities on testing is required: consistency of data, conformance of processors
● mapping to POSEIDON will be continued
US STEP Conformance and Certification Testing Program
by Martha Nicholson of PDES, Inc.
(See Ref: Gen/BA-9 for further details)
● US and France are working together for international recognition of conformance testing.
● US- US PRO /ITI, Michigan
● France - AFNOR/GOSET
● Certification process based on Parts 31 and 32
● Testing applies to Web-based tools; based on 203 ATSs.
● Identified test lab (Industrial Technology Institute), Michigan
● Control Board includes users, vendors, Gov. representative, NIST, PDES Inc.,..
● Members are: GM, IBM, US PRO, PTC, Boeing, ITI-MI, GD-Electric Boat, Delphi, UG Solutions, NIST, PDES Inc.
● Certification procedure: Test lab forwards the results to vendor. The vendor may ask the test lab to forward it to the certification body. Test results are the property of clients; test results are strictly confidential.
● Issues are:
● Accreditation of certification body and test labs;
● cost of testing and certification (probably around 2000-3000 US Dollars?)
● Certification Test Procedures;
● Mutual recognition agreements with other certification programs.

Materials schema in the ship_materials UoF by Norman Swindells
(Ref: Fig. G.47 - Materials schema (1/1) in the ship_materials UoF)
Material properties are associated with the properties of a product. Here properties are assigned to ship_material, and ship_material is not a product! Products (not material) have properties.
See Fig. 4 Data Model Environment
See Fig. 5 Property and Data Environment
There is conflicting requirements between ISO 10303 Part 45 and the shipbuilding industry requirements. The Part 45 data environment is not required for ships (Matthias). If Part 45 Material is referenced, then the present UoF is to be changed (Norman). Otherwise it will cause trouble with mapping to Part 45 resources.
Norman: In AP218, weld is treated as a component of the ship.
The problem is how to link the material id number with its properties: e.g. filler material id 35 has some strength properties associated with it. But how they are related is to be clarified.
