On the Annex to IEC 61363-1： Short-circuit current calculations

　

At the Kista meeting of TC 18 I undertook to provide an Annex to IEC 61363-1 to illustrate the application of IEC 61363-1. I thought the project would be quick and painless - I was wrong! I must apologize that this work is not finished. The problems encountered have been both personal (an unusually busy schedule) and technical in setting up the computer calculation.

　

A total of four Annexes are under preparation：

　

・Annex A - Application of IEC Standard 61363-1 to the calculation of short-circuit currents on a typical marine system.

・Annex B - Short-circuit current calculation for system-components.

・Annex C - System short-circuit current calculations

・Annex D - The application of suitable approximations in the calculation procedures.

　

Annex A is a short introduction to the work and basically describes the content of the other appendices. This Annex is 95% complete. The remaining 5% involves changing words as necessary as each Annex is finalized!

　

　

Annex B demonstrates the use of IEC 61363-1 to calculate the short-circuit current of the various components forming the typical electrical system shown above. This Annex is 90% complete. The remaining 10% involves completing a linking process between a WORD file and an Excel file that will enable an interactive calculation to be completed.
