Report from project team on socket outlets for portable handheld tools.
The projectleader Mr. C. Meyer has been withdrawn from this Houston meeting last week because of excessive workload in his company, This is regretted by the NL committee and a formal letter will be sent to his company.
Mr. R. Borstlap chairman of the Netherland committee has taken over temporarily the projectleaders task and discussed the Canadian remarks with Mr. D. Clark.
The committee draft 18(841)CD now circulated indicates a conflict between reliability and safety aspects and accnrding Mr. Clark the application of the document should be limited and the document should allow for insulated distribution systems.
Depending on type/purpose/size of the vessel earthed distribution systems are also used in Canada.
Part of the document shall be relocated in the relevant parts of system design 92-101.
During the discussion the compromise of high impedance earthing of the distribution system was mentioned which would allow for both keeping essential circuits alive with a single earth fault, have this earthfault alarmed and switch off non essential or safety circuits by earth fault protection circuit breakers.
The protect team shall rewrite the document into a new committee draft for circulation in Janualy 1999
