Resolution 5 - Increased participation in ISO/TC 8 and its subcommittees- ISO/TC 8 asks the subcommittees to identify to the Ad Hoe Group on Communications and Public Relations the Industries and Individuals that should be approached in order to increase the active participation in ISO/TC 8 and its subcommittees.

 

Resolution 6 - Wing-in-ground (WIG) Craft: In doc. 8 N 887 Sweden requests that IMO-ISO item NR 32 Wing-in-ground (WIG) Craft should not be dealt with by ISO/TC 8 (and IMO). In the discussion it is said that it has not yet been decided whether WIG Craft is a ship, an airplane or a hovercraft. With Resolution 142 it is decided to wait for further IMO Requirements in this field.

 

Resolution 7 - Effective liaisons of ISO/TC 8/Subcommittees with IMO counterparts : ISO/TC 8 once more emphasizes that it is the responsibility of the subcommittees to maintain effective liaisons with appropriate counterparts in IMO and to ensure that the needed flow of information, in both directions, is secured and to update the information in their periodical report to ISO/TC 8.

 

Resolution 8 - Vienna Agreement: ISO/TC 8 reminds its subcommittees that the Vienna Agreement can be of use, whenever items are to be developed in parallel with CEN/TC 15 and CEN/TC 300. It is the task of the subcommittees to take any necessary action according to this Agreement and to inform ISO/Central Secretariat and ISO/TC 8 accordingly. Subcommittees SC 1, SC 3, SC 4 and SC 7 are requested to take a position on the items mentioned in doc. 8 N 882 annex G. ISO/TC 8 decides that the revisions of ISO 8384:1991 and ISO 8385: 1991, as proposed by CEN/TC 15, will be submitted to the parallel voting procedure, CEN having the lead.

 

Resolution 9 - Standards and workitems in other ISO/TC's: ISO/TC 8 resolves that it is the responsibility of the ISO/TC 8 subcommittees to scrutinize the ISO Catalogue of Standards and Working Program to identify any projects in other ISO/TC's that require active participation of experts in the field of Ships and marine technology and to seek liaison with those TC's as appropriate. Taking doc. ISO/TC 8 N 883 as a basis, it is suggested that the following liaison might be advantageous for the subcommittees indicated: ISO/TC 10 - SC 10, ISO/TC 17 - SC 8, ISO/TC 22 - SC 4, ISO/TC 43 - SC 4 and/or SC 8, ISO/TC 58 - SC 1 and/or SC 9, ISO/TC 67 - SC 4, ISO/TC 70 - SC 2 and/or SC 3, ISO/TC 96 - SC 4, ISO/TC 108 - SC 3 and/or SC 8, ISO/TC 145 - SC 1 and/or SC 10, ISO/TC 178 - SC 4 and/or SC 9, ISO/TC 184 - SC 10, ISO/TC 188 - SC 6, ISO/TC 192 - SC 2 and/or SC 3, ISO/TC 197 - SC 3. The subcommittees are requested to report on the situation before the meeting of the Advisory Group in the spring of 1997.

 

Resolution 10 - Reference to involvement of other TC's in the preparation of standards: ISO/TC 8 requests the ISO/Central Secretariat to establish a rule that every TC which develops a standard that applies to matters that concern an industry mainly represented in another TC, for instance Ships and marine technology under ISO/TC 8, to state clearly in the forward that this committee has been involved in the development of the standard.
