THE 15TH MEETING OF ISO/TC 8： SHIPS AND MARINE TECHNOLOGY, CASCAIS, 1996-10-14/16
The meeting is opened by the chairman： Mr. CAPT Charles H. Piersall, and is attended by 36 delegates, representing 11 P-member bodies, ISO/Central secretariat and the following 4 organizations in liaison： IACS, IAPH, IMO and IMPA. The meeting made the following 16 resolutions：
Resolution 1 - Drafting committee： ISO/TC 8 appints the following members to the drafting committee： Mr. Alexander (UK), Mr. G. Ashe (USA) and Mr. J. van Elk (Secretariat). Resolutions will be drafted in English only.
Resolution 2 - Cooperation with IMO： ISO/TC 8 gives the task to the Advisory Group to develop an internal ISO/TC 8 document to give guidance to its subcommittees and to be a tool on the best way of cooperation with IMO on items of mutual interest. This will help the work of ISO/TC8 towards a final goal of ensuring that international standards are prepared with a view to provide a basis for the development and implementation of lMO-requirements.
Resolution 3 - Navigational charts： ISO/TC 8 instructs ISO/TC 8/SC 6 to reconsider their wish to delete the item (Navigational charts), as this project was specifically requested by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) in 1993. A report on this investigation, also taking into account the work being done by IEC/TC 80, is requested before the meeting of the Advisory Group in spring 1997.
Resolution 4 - Chairman ISO/TC 8/SC 10： ISO/TC 8 appoints Mr. Staffan Robertsson (Norway) as chairman of lSO/TC 8/SC 10 (Computer applications) for a period of six years (1996 - 2001 ).
