We can now conclude that two serious candidates are available for the function：
Spain (AENOR)
and
Japan (JMSA)
At the moment Spain is an O-member of ISO/TC 8; Japan a P-member, also responsible for the secretariats of ISO/TC 8/SC 6 and ISO/TC 8/SC 9.
According to the Directives (1.9.1) "The secretariat of a technical committee shall be allocated to a national body by the Technical Management Board" and thus the final choice between the two candidates has to be made on the level of the TMB.
The chairman of ISO/TC 8 will discuss the next step with ISO/Central secretariat and you will be informed on the outcome in due course.
