Woodchip Carrier PRINCE OF NATURE Designed for Maximum Efficiency
The 3.2 million-ft3 woodchip carrier PRINCE OF NATURE was delivered to Neptune Phoenix Shipping Corp. of Panama in September 1995 at the Mizushima Works and Ship- yard of Sanoyas Hishino Meisho Corporation.
The specialized woodchip carrier is smaller than the Sanoyas developed standard 3.6 million-ft3 woodchip carrier with its cargo hold capacity reduced to 3.2 million-ft3.
Features
1. The flush decker has six cargo holds arranged amidships and the accommodations and engine room located aft. The frame arrangement in the cargo space is designed for maximum efficiency in woodchip loading and unloading.
2. Because of their low specific gravity woodchips require a relatively large hold capacity. Accordingly, the hull of the PRINCE OF NATURE is deeper than those of typical bulk carriers of about the same deadweight.
3. Cargo handling equipment includes an 975-t/h woodchip unloading system and three hoppers for efficient unloading.
4. End-folding hatch covers are chain-driven by hydraulic motors for opening and closing.
