A 45,178-dwt Bulk Carrier BEIHAI
The 45,178-dwt bulk carrier BEIHAI, completed in December 1995 at the Toyohashi Works of Kanasashi Co., Ltd. and delivered to its owner Beihai Shipping Inc.
The BEIHAI is designed suitable for carrying ore, coal and grain in bulk, steel products and packaged lumber.
The cargo is divided into 5 holds and having topside tanks and double bottom with side hopper. Heavy cargo is to be loaded alternately in hold Nos. 1, 3 and 5. No. 3 cargo hold is also used as a ballast tank for safety navigation at rough sea.
Each hold has folding type steel hatch covers, operated by the hydraulic cylinders. The ship is able to carry the packaged lumber on upper deck and on hatch covers.
4 sets of 25LT electro-hydraulic, high speed type deck crane are installed on upper deck.
The ship has the DNV, E0 notation for unmanned engine room operation. The main engine is low- speed, long-stroke diesel engine Kawasaki-MAN B & W 6S50MC Mark 5, and high performance propeller with turbo ring save the fuel oil consumption.
