Assessment of dynamic balancing ability during a movement tracking task

To examine the usefulness of a tool for assessing dynamic balancing ability, 61 women aged 13-to 72-yr-old were examined during a movement tracking task and other physical fitness tests. The subjects were requested to adjust their center of foot pressure(CFP)to several waves displayed sinusoidally on the front monitor using their postural sway under botha for-ward/backward condition and a right-left condition. The magnitude of the wave was 10cm for the former, and 20cm for the latter, with frequencies of 0.2,0.25,0.33,0.5 and 1Hz in order.Time lag (TL) and magnitude lag (ML) between the wave and the subject's CFP at each peak were measured for the 2nd、3rd、and 4th waves.There was no significant relationship between maximal isometric knee extension strength and the locus of CFP and TL, ML. ML at 0.5Hz was significantly related to age in the right-and leftward condition (p<0.01). The traditional side jumping test was comparatively related to TL and ML in the group above 60-yr-old. These results suggest that this trial method of the movement tracking task might be usable if the freguency is carefully examined. Future investigation is needed to establish a modified version of the side jumping test adaptable to field situations.

 

本研究班は助成初年度において20〜70歳代の成人女性の身体作業能力の加齢変化を検討し、活動能力の加齢変化を把握するための体力指標として歩行能力に関する変数が簡便で有効な測定項目と考えられること、および下肢筋力と平衡機能・歩行能力間に高い相関関係がみられることを報告した7)。昨年度はそれらの測定項目におよぼすトレーニングの影響を検討するために、運動習慣を持たない中高年齢者を対象に日常的に行える内容の低〜中等度強度、低頻度のトレーニングを実施し、比較的低い強度の身体トレーニングでも日常生活の身体活動水準を高めることは可能であり、このようなトレーニングの実施による身体作業能力の変化を評価する際には、歩行能力と脚筋力に
