Effect of Light Exercise on Static Body Control in Women

This study surveyed adult women to investigate changes in upper body alignment by observing discrepancies in body consciousness before and after light exercise load. Forty-five adult women 18-69 years old living in an urban area were selected as the subjects. They were asked to take standing and long term sitting postures that they considered “comfortable” and “presentable (attractive)” before and after exercise. Photographs showing the lateral view were comparatively studied. Upper body alignment was used to classified into the following 4 groups in decending order of the relative alignment of abdomen to chest. The anterior line of the upper body was classified into the convex (chest) -concave (abdomen) type, double convex type, double concave type and concave-convex type, while the posterior line was divide into the concave type, flat back type, slightly rounded type and markedly rounded type.

The results were as follows:1) There were no significant difference among the young, middle-aged and the elderly groups ; 2) Evaluation score was higher for “presentable (attractive)” compared to “comfortable” due to the associated image of the expression ; 3) After exercise the evaluation score was higher than that before the exercise ; 4) Compared to standing, long-sitting was influenced more by the image associated with words “presentable (attractive)” and the influence of exercise was greater both creating higher scores.

 

これまでに姿勢についての研究は数多くなされており、その加齢による変化や姿勢の分類など、古くからの研究報告がある。姿勢の加齢変化については、山口ら18)が16歳以上の健康成人1801名(男1018名、女783名)を対象とした脊柱彎曲測定装置による測定結果をもとに各年代の平均的姿勢の模式図を作成している。その考察の一部を抜粋すると、『男子では30歳代から50歳代までの変化は比較的少なく、60歳代、70歳代で腰椎後腎が若干大きくなる程度である。しかしながら20歳代で最も均整のとれた女子は、加齢と共に30歳代から崩れはじめ、各年代毎の変化が著しい。男子の姿勢の変化は50歳代からであるが、女子ではすでに30歳代で認められ、男女間に20年の差がある』
