The relationship between understanding and attitude of university students on their past school athletic club activities and their present sport involvement-2-.

This study investigated the relationship between understanding and attitude of university students toward their first school athletic club activities during the junior-high school to high school periods and the degrees and styles of their present participation in sport activities.
Five hundred seventy eight male and 260 female university students responded to a questionnaire in June 1997.
On analysis of cross tabulation (contingency table), the following observations were made ；
1. the degrees and styles of present sport-involvement were influenced by the understanding and attitude toward the past school athletic club activities.
The result of factor-analysis revealed that the understanding and attitude toward junior-high school athletic club activities was composed of the following 5 factors ；
1. the effectiveness of coaches, 2.the feeling of psychological and/or social fulfillment, 3. the feeling of self fulfillment skillfulness, 4. the subjectivity in the school athletic club activities, 5. the feeling of satisfaction in one's athletic clubs and/or teams.
Among these 5 factors, factor 1, factor 2, factor 3, and factor 5 were significantly related to the current sport-involvement.
From analysis of the relationship between understanding and attitude of subjects on their former coaches' effectiveness and the degrees of self-disclosure and their current sport-involvement, it was shown that their current sport-involvement was influenced not only by the effectiveness but also by the degrees of self-disclosure.
