・ 対応技術は予め承認されているべきであり、選択肢は排除されるべきではない。多くの場合、大規模な油流出事故に対応するには分散処理剤は重要な手段であるが、その使用は最も効果的な時期に迅速に実施できるよう、予め認可されていなければならない。
・ 海岸線の自然回復を促進するためのエクソン社の技術の応用から得られた知識は多く文書化され、他の所と共有されている。これらの技術の各々は多くの国際的な追跡研究の主題に取り上げられている。それらの研究の多くは現在も進行中であり、エクソン社の研究開発資金が支援している。
・ 生物修復の方法と化学浄化剤C0REXIT 9580は一定の浄化目的に関しては安全で有効な技術であると実証された。
