Total construction cost: 94 crore rupees (3.24 billion yen)

Flyover construction in the future

Richmond Circle (Flyover): Construction cost 30 crore rupees

Merchri Circle (Underground): Construction cost, 20 crore rupees

(2) Schedule of SCTH FIyover CW

Large-scale machines, materials and facilities used in this project are a cast-in-place pile machine, incremental launching girders (trussas) and segment manufacturing factory. As only one cast-in-place pile machine is used, is efficiency determines the efficiency of all the construction work.

Number of cast-in-place piles: (2,500 m / 35 m + 1 piece) x 6 piecas = 435 pieces

It takes one day (24 hours) to install a cast-in-place pile working three shifts (eight workers per shift), including excavation insertion of reinforcing bar cages and casting concrete.

Therefore, the number of days required to install all cast-in-place piles is:

One piece per day x 435 pieces x 1.1 (allowance) = 479 days = 16 months

It is possible to complete the construction work, including design consultations, preparation and clearance work, within the planned period of 30 months.

Girders of the upper structure are continuous bridge of maximum 9 spans, or 8 Spans on average.

2,500 m/(35 m x 8pieces) = 8.9 = 9 sections

It is planned to complete one section in six months.

An incremental launching girder (truss) will be used eight times per section.

As it takes a maximum of six months to complete a section according to the SCTH Flyover CW promoter a maximum of 48 months is required to complete eight sections, if one cast-in-pile machine is used. As a result, the upper structure construction work will not be completed in the planned construction period.

Therefore, more incremental launching girders (trusses) will be used in the future.

Upper structure segments (2 m wide) shall be manufactured at a factory and transported to the site so as not to delay the installation work. As a sufficient number of forms and sufficient space for manufacturing have been arranged, there will be no problems in this regard.

As mentioned above, the cast-in-place pile installation work is a bottleneck in the construction schedule (assuming the number of incremental launching girders is increased).

Although 12 months or 40% of the planned period had passed as of November, 1997, the work was in progress and would be completed as planned according to the promoter.
