8.3 Major Results of EIA Study
On request of BMRTL, RITES carried out EIA for ELRT Project. Major negative and positive impacts on environmental conditions during the construction stage and operation stage of the project were identified, the impact items were evaluated quantatively by assigning respective weight to each item (larger weight for better impact), and suitable mitigation measures were proposed against negative impact items. Environmental monitoring program and estimated cost for environmental preservation were also presented.
Table 8.3-1 shows major negative and positive impacts during construction and operation stage of the project identified by RITES' study and major countermeasures against negative impacts proposed by RITES.
