5. Train Operation Plan

5.1 Concept of Transport Plan

To establish a modern operation security system to cope with high-density train operation and ensure stable transport we prepare a minute train operation plan to correspond to transport demands and comprehensively cover and control train operation, passenger services, management and rolling stock and track maintenance.

5.1.l Basic Conditions For Transport Plan

(1) Routes

Routes for Phase 1 and Phase 2 are as follows.

Phase 1: 25.9 krm; portions of the Green and Red lines

Phase 2: Entire route

As a number of problems exist in the current plan to commonly use the same section (between Mayo Hall and the Junction of Residency Road and Brigade Road) by the Red and Yellow lines, we adopt a plan to completely separate these two lines.

(2) Operation Time between Stations

Basic conditions such as gradients and track curves, other than distances, are not available for calculating operation times between stations, nor are conditions of rolling stock known other than acceleration, deceleration and the maximum speed. Therefore, we calculated approximate operation times between stations by based on travel time for each segment estimated by UBTSL with due consideration on distance between stations.

(3) Minimum Headway

As the signal system is not known we plan facilities by assuming that train operation at headway's of two minutes is possible.

(4) Position of Shuttle Operation Facilities

We plan that trains can be shuttled at stations where shuttle operation facilities are available, as planned by UB. However, we propose to introduce shuttle operation facilities at other stations where necessary.

As signal system details are not known, we assume that it takes two minutes for shuttling operation at shuttling stations as a rule of thumb.

We assumed the same travel time for inbound and outbound trains.
