5. Route selection of the full network of ELRTS would be generally satisfactory considering the present density and distribution of population in Bangalore City. The connecting stations should be prepared on the circle ELRTS lines for the extension lines in radial direction in future considering the expansion of conurbation area in Bangalore region.
6. Route selection of Phase 1 project is also justified for serving the increase of travel demand generated in the southern and western part (Sector 2,3,6,7) of Bangalore City as shown in Table 4.4-L. Route selection of Phase 1 project is not necessarily on the bases of the present traffic demand, It is considering the road condition for construction, of ELRTS facilities, allocation of the site of stations and depots and the potentiality of future development for the areas. The future development plan should be prepared for the areas along ELRTS with the transport planning simultaneously by BMRT and the consortium.
7. The passenger demand for the Phase 1 project of ELRTS at opening year in 2002 will be reduced to half or one third of original forecast demand, because the forecast demand was calculated based on that in the year 2011 under the full network of ELRTS. For the purpose of encouraging passenger demand of ELRTS, a plan for connecting ELRTS with bus routes and terminals will be needed.
