The trend analysis also estimates a population of 10.25 million in the year 2021. Out of this, 9 million would be in the Bangalore city and 1.25 million would be in peripheral towns and new cities taking into account of the strategic development plans for the Bangalore region.

 

The latest employment was recorded in the 1990 employment census. The total employment for the year 2011 estimated on the participation rate of the projected population was given in the CDP.

The zonal population and employment has been given from the CDP for the year 2011 and 2021. The estimated population and employment mainly increased in the zones located on the fringe of city area by the year 2011. This justifies that the full ELRTS network were shaped into circular line.

 

4.2.4 Per Capita Trip Rate

 

Per capita trip rates (PCTR) were estimated by trip purpose for the seven transport planning sector, based on the trip rates in the 1994 household survey as shown in Table 4.2-2. As work trips include non-home based business trips, PCTR for work trips are higher in the business sector. PCTR for educational trips increased by 50 percent in 2011 compared to 1994.
