latter route, Crossing Route between Bagalur Road and Bellary Road was selected.
(e) Elephant Rock-6th Main Road-36th Cross Road vs.4th Main Road-36th Cross Road (Blue line)
The alternative routes are related with passing one of the largest traffic centers in the city, and Jayanagar Shopping Complex which is one of the most active quarters in Bangalore. Many other variations were discussed regarding The optimum route. The Elephant Rock-9th Main Road-24th Cross Road route was selected.
(2) Alternative Plans by BMRTL
(a) Hosur Road vs. Bannerghatta Road-Hosur Road (Yellow line) The former route short-circuits Lines in the Adugodi area to reduce overall travel time and the latter route makes a detour to provide transport service in a wider area. The detour route will induce larger transport demand but involve larger construction and operation costs, making discussions on various aspects necessary. The former route passing Hosur Road was selected.
(b) Hosur Road vs. Sarajpur Road-Venktapura (Yellow line)
Based on a comparison of transport cost and demand, the latter route passing Sarajpur Road-Venktapura was selected.
(c) Rarmana Maharashi Road vs. Jaya Mahal Road (Blue line)
Based on a comparison of transport cost and demand the latter route passing Jaya Mahal Road was selected.
Although above routes have been determined UBTSL intends to further review the following points in detail.
(i) The Red Line, which is currently designed to run to the north in the west of Hudson Circle to pass Nrupathunga Road and Seshadri Road, could directly proceed to pass District Office Road which will require less cost and induce more traffic. Final selection will be made at the last stage based on financial analysis.
(ii) After crossing the Red line at Hudson Circle, the Blue Line could extend straight south. However, this alternative passes through in font of historical city authority building. Accordingly, this alternative was rejected and the route had to make a detour in the east direction. However, the situations have changed and the route straight to the south has become promising.
(iii) In the present plan, Yellow Line does not run straight though Karmara Road, but joins Red line at Mayo Hall through MG Road. This route plan presents a critical problem from the view point of transport capacity (refer to the section 5.4). This present plan was selected because Karmara Road is narrow (about 10m wide) and runs along one of the most busy shopping centers.
The present route plan must be restudied in the future again because this plan Limits critically
