第2回東京世界女子空手道選手権大会が盛大に開催されますことを心からお喜び申し上げますとともに、世界各国及び地域から参加される選手役員の皆様に心から歓迎を申し上げます。
空手道は、日本古来からの「武道」として受け継がれ、今では、国内はもとより海外にまで普及、「スポーツ」として定着してきており、1994年には広島市で開催された第12回アジア競技大会において11種目が実施されたのを始めとして、来る1998年にタイ・バンコク市で開催される第13回アジア競技大会、2002年に韓国・プサン市で開催される第14回アジア競技大会においても実施予定であるなど、その発展にはめざましいものがあります。
空手道は心身の鍛練はもとより人格の形成に大きく役立つということはすでに周知のとおりであり、我々スポーツ関係者にとっても大変喜ばしいことであり、空手道の一層の興隆発展に繋がることを期待するものであります。
今大会に参加される選手の皆さんには、日頃鍛えられた技を充分に発揮され、正々堂々と全力で競技されるとともに、世界各国との友好・親善により一層寄与されることを期待しております。

I would like to welcome all the officials and competitors from all over the world to Japan for the 2nd Ladies' International Karate Cup.
Karatedo has been inherited as a traditional Japanese sport and has taken root as a sport.Karate has spread not only in Japan，but also all over the world. Karate was included with 11 categories for the 12th Asian Games in Hiroshima 1994, and it will be included in the 13th Asian Games in Bangkok，Thailand and also in the 14th Asian Games in Pusan, Korea
It is well known that Karatedo has been a great help for character molding as well as for the discipline of mind and body. I hope everybody who competes in this championship will be able to make full use of their technique，strengthen their mutual friendship.
