a. Guard and Rescue Vessels
Guard and rescue vessels engage in operations to maintain peace and order, ensure maritime traffic safety, rescue ships and persons in distress, prevent maritime disasters and marine pollution, and other activities. The Agency has a total of 431 guard and rescue vessels: 119 patrol vessels, 235 patrol craft, and 77 special guard and rescue craft. Of these vessels and craft, the Agency deploys 48 large patrol vessels (refer to Figure 2-10-1).
