(3) Division of Ship Operation Systems Engineering

The purpose of the Ship Operation Systems Engineering Programme is to produce a Ship's officer who is well prepared for the new generation of modern, efficient vessels with unattended enginerooms. These vessels feature engine control and monitoring equipment on the navigating bridge. The Ship Operation Systems Engineering major is prepared originally to take the third ship's officer examination, but students in the Division can take either the third mate's licence examination or the third engineer's licence according to the elective major course they have taken. Students are also able to graduate with an enhanced knowledge of pragmatic marine engineering and maritime transportation science, by taking Free Choice Subjects within the range of 20 credits.

All students in the Division take subjects commonly in the core curriculum, non major-related common core subjects (32 credits) and common core major subjects for ship's officer licence (88 credits).
