In the second case (i.e., multiple-choice format), the number of questions for each subject group/section-areas/items can be calculated by referring to table (4) and through the following simple mathematical equation:

Ex: If the total number of questions is 50 questions then the number of question(s) for group/section A in table (4) will be as follows:

A = (33x50) / 100 = 16.5 Questions = 16 Questions

In this case the total exam marks will be distributed equally over questions (equal weight for each question).

In the case of multiple-choice format allowed time for each question should be equally distributed over all questions. In a four-hour test where the total number of questions are 50, the weight for each question is 4.8 min./Question.

In the case of conventional formats (essay, situational and problem solving) the number of questions can be compatible with the number of subject groups/sections. The time weight will be assigned according to the degree of importance for each group/section. For example if the allowed time for the exam is 4 hours and the number of groups/sections are 4 as in table (4), then the exam will include 4 questions, and the allowed time for question in group A will be as follows:-

A = (4 hours x 60 minutes x 33 importance %) / 100 = 80 minutes

As for the marks for each question; as mentioned before the marks per question are assigned according to the importance of each question.
