learners, learner progress control, learner needs met by the course,
learner assessment, which records of learners are kept.
Section 10 Inspection and testing
Although the learner is not really a product there are elements which
are relevant as well: inspection and testing during receiving, in the process and upon
finalization.
In teaching and education this means: learning materials and teaching
and assessment materials, learner tools and from external supplier materials: books, paper
ink, etc.
This check is only for the quality and should not be for costing
purposes.
Section 11 Inspection, measuring and testing equipment
This involves assessment of materials, moderation of systems, external
examining systems, external awarding systems. This leads to validity and reliability in
testing and application of test equipment which is common in sector use.
Calibration is critical in experiments and in assessment tests.
Therefore the calibration must be known, carry it out and keep the records. In ET this
means to set the standards and set up a record for each item.
Section 12 Inspection and test status
The requirement is that the learner is to be tested and the test status
to be recorded according to the procedures.
Section 13 Control of non-conforming product
This can be approached in two different ways:
if learner is the product: then those failing assessments are
non-conforming;
if teaching is the product then faulty teaching items such as bad
books, teaching materials, incorrect assessment items are non-conforming. It is thus
essential to make sure bad items are not used, labelled and stored away.
Section 14 Corrective action
This requires to correct a non-compliance problem and examines cause of
such. Through auditing the discrepancies should be found. Setup of a system to cope with
such and applying corrective action are the main elements.
Section 15 Handling, storage, packing, delivery
Here again depending on what is the product will make the difference as
to the interpretation. In case the learner is the product one might say that the lodgings
and accomodation are controlled by this section.
If the teaching is the product then handling and storage of teaching
materials is the interpretation required of this section.
Section 16 Quality records
Quality records come in many formats and structures. Whatever is
necessary to show that the system is working is what is asked for. It seems logical to use
everyday available materials as long as they are according to procedure and meet the
requirements. In education and training keeping records of learners, staff, course design,
etc., is what is required and considered sufficient.
