education of operators was sufficiently made. A total system
incorporating both IBS and operators in a good relation is useful and effective.
The following items were indicated in this paper.
?@ Human functions in the Advanced Navigation System compared with
that in conventional ships.
?A Human ability and the contents of training which are necessary to
use the Advanced Navigation System effectively.
?B For the Advanced Navigation System which is still an insufficient
system at present, the direction of the development to make it coexist with human and to
be an effective system from now on.
