Yards and suppliers have to be involved in this work, to be able to transfer information efficiently between parties, from the engineering and building phases to the operation phase of the vessel.

As a part of the work to improve the transport logistics, use of standard messages and systems for information exchange have to be included in the next generation of integrated systems for ships. The improvements in information logistics should include safe ship operation and maintenance need.

Reduction of routine inspections from authorities, classification societies and charterers, will reduce the crew's workload, especially in ports. Also improvement of the inspection itself demands better tools and systems for documentation of ships condition.
