1. Shape of the test basin
We understand the intent of German proposal for triangle shape. However, it is not appropriate to restrict the shape only to triangle. We propose to amend this part so as to allow other shapes besides triangle.
For information, we would like to point out the following possibilities:
In case a test which involves emulsification of oil such as a test of mop type skimmer is carried out in the test area contained by oil boom, small oil drop spread in the water may surface outside the boom. In such case, whole area of test basin is required to clean up.
2. Test temperature
If test temperature is specified at +15 ℃, the date of the test will be greatly restricted. (please see the average temperature of major cities in the world in the table below)

The factor that is directly affected by the temperature is the viscosity.
We propose to specify the viscosity as the viscosity may be converted with reasonable accuracy by using "viscosity-temperature chart". This conversion method is commonly used in the test of skimmer.
3. Equipment to be excluded for this standard
The following equipment shall be excluded from this standard as the test methods specified in this standard cannot be applied:
- Equipment effective to the oil of 100,000 cSt and above of viscosity
- Very large equipment unable to test in the conventional test basin
4. Wave test
As the test standard in wave conditions is essential, we do hope such standard will be developed at the next stage.
