3 Entries for Individual Cargoes - Additional comments

Re: COAL

(30) Re: WEATHER PRECAUTIONS: Because fine particled coal is categorized into group A, such materials should not be loaded in rain, basically. Therefore, "No special precautions. Coal can be loaded in rain." should be substituted by the sentences proposed in the comment No.17.

Re: ALUMINA

(31) Re: WEATHER PRECAUTIONS: Because the some types of Alumina should be avoided from wet and water, the sentence should be changed as follows;

"Unless it is known that the cargo can be loaded in light rain, the cargo should not to be loaded/discharged in rain. In that case, hatch shall be closed in rain and hatch lids on non-working holds should be closed."

(32) Re: VENTILATION: The sentence "This cargo should be ventilated" should be deleted, Considering the characteristics of Alumina, ventilation is not needed. Controversy, as the ALUMIA usually fine powder, it has bad influence for human health and mechanical ventilation may cause scattering of powder on deck. It should be noted that ALUMINA has been transported without cargo claim by ships without ventilator.

Re: ALIMINA SILICA

(33) Re: CLEAN UP: The sentence should be changed to the same one of Alumina as follows:

"After discharge there must be a thorough double sweep and cleaning of high frames and shedders. After hose down, use portable pump to clear water from holds - not the bilge pump."

Re: ALUMINA, CALCINED

CALCINED CLAY

(34) Re: WEATHER PRECAUTIONS: The sentences "Keep dry. Do not work in rain." should be remained.

(35) Re: CLEAN UP: The sentence should be changed to the same one of Alumina as follows:

"After discharge there must be a thorough double sweep and cleaning of high frames and shedders. After hose down, use portable pump to clear water from holds - not the bilge pump."
