●設立
社団法人 海外運輸協力協会は昭和48年(1973年)4月1日、運輸大臣の許可により「社団法人 海外運輸コンサルタンツ協会」として設立され、平成6年(1994年)6月7日、運輸大臣の許可を得て名称を「社団法人 海外運輸協力協会」と改めた。また本会内に「運輸協力研究センター」が設置された。

●目的
開発途上国の社会・経済の発展に寄与するため、海外における運輸部門全般にわたる総合的コンサルティング活動を促進し、あわせて運輸分野国際協力の総合的な推進を図ることを主な事業目的とする。
●事業実績
昭和48年4月に創立されて以来25年余、幾多の変遷を経ながらも、当初より運輸省(現国土交通省)のご指導と国庫補助金並びに日本船舶振興会からは助成金並びに補助金を得、更に昭和61年度以降は笹川平和財団からも事業費の助成を受けるなど外部からの資金的援助を受ける一方、会員各位の不断の協力により当協会の事業目的に向けて今日まで着実に協会の事業が拡大されてきた。

● Establishment
The JTCA was originally founded on April 1, 1973 under the name of Japan Transport Consultants Association, as approved by the Ministry of Transport. The association later renamed as "Japan Transport Cooperation Association" in June 1994, as approved by the Ministry of Transport, and also newly established the Transport Cooperation Research Institute within the Association.

● Objectives
The major business objective are to promote individual and comprehensive consultation activities of the members in the overseas transport sector in order to assist developing countries in socio-economic development, as well as to comprehensively promote international cooperation in the transport field.

JTCA activities have developed under the supervision and subsidization of MOT (present MLIT), and through the subsidization of Nippon Foundation since its establishment in 1973 and the Sasakawa Peace Foundation since 1986
