Mitsuhashi was born in Tokyo in 1950. He learned the Kinko-school shakuhachi from Sofu Sasaki, and classical pieces originally written for the instrument, for kanka shakuhachi from Chikugai Okamoto. He has been a master of the school for twenty-five years. He was selected for the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival in 1980, and won the Festival in 1989. He won the 10th Kenao Nakajima Music Awards in 1992, and the 8th Hida-Furukawa Music Awards in 1996. Recently, he made a recording for Windham Hill and participated in the 100th anniversary of Carnegie Hall, New York.
Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. From l978 to 1985, he attended the 'Suigyu Gakudan' led by TAKAHASHI Yuji, developing the unique performance worldwide. In 1980, he took part in Musica Practica and played various contemporary works for ten years including their premiere. Since 1998, he has regularly performed at Opera City Hall with Ensemble Nomade and also he teaches at Ferris University.
Tsuyoshi Endo began taking flute lessons at the age of twelve. He learned from Sonoko Mimura and then Hiroshi Koizumi. He graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music, where he studied with Ryu Noguchi, Motoko Nabeshima, and Masahiro Arita. After finishing the post-graduate course, he made a concert tour around Europe and studied with Jellious Paker and Robert Eitken. He founded an ensemble called "Pleiades," and has performed in the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival and many other recitals with them.
A graduate of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. Studied with Yoshida Masao, Kawasaki Masaru, Noguchi Ryu, She won the 2nd prize in the 45th Japan Music Competition when undergraduate and won the Ataka award, She studied further under Louis Liviere at Wien University of Music. She had been playing with Tokyo City Philharmonic. Currently, a member of Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra.
Masaharu Ishibashi became active as a flute player when he was enrolled at Chuo University, from which he graduated in law. In 1998, when the Japan Flute Society made a concert tour in Argentina and Brazil, he was its concert master. He is currently a lecturer at the Showa Academia Musicae, its Community College, and its Graduate School.
Takashi Kuroda graduated from the Showa Academia Musicae Community College and finished its post-graduate course. After performing at the Newcomers' Recital sponsored by the Yomiuri Shinbun, he studied at the Bremen Conservatory of Music, Germany. After coming back to Japan, he began performing as a member of the Kirchenmusik Orchester, as a soloist, and as a chamber music player. His teachers include Koji Uno, Toshio Takahashi, D. Kwaltz, and P. L. Graf in Tokyo and Switzerland. He is currently an assistant professor at the Showa Academia Musicae Community College and a member of the board of the Japan Flute Society.
