<躍動する音たち>
人類の歴史の中で20世紀ほど大きな変貌を遂げた時代はないでしょう。機械文明の恩恵を受け情報化が進み、世界は今、<出会い><交流>の時を経て、<融合>そして新たな文化の<創造>の時代を迎えようとしています。
1973年に結成された「アジア作曲家連盟」は、西洋を中心に発展してきた音楽界に、アジアの伝統と現代の文化を積極的に紹介し、世界の音楽に目を開かせる機会を与えると共に、21世紀への扉を開く大きな音楽的要因を提示し続けて参りました。連盟に加盟する11の国と地域の持ち回りで開催されてきたく<総会・音楽祭>も、今回日本で第21回目の大会を開く事となりました。アジアの伝統と現代の文化が放つ計り知れないエネルギーは、今後も世界の文化に大きな影響を与え続ける事でしょう。今大会を機に「ヴェトナム作曲家連盟」が加盟を表明しています。<アジア作曲家連盟>に仲間が増え、また新たな出会いを生み出す事でしょう。
我々『アジア音楽週間2000in横浜』実行委員会は、2000年という記念すべき年に「アジア作曲家連盟第21回総会・音楽祭」を招致し、21世紀へと飛翔する音楽祭を開催すべく努力を重ねて参りました。350曲もの世界各地からの応募作品の中から世界初演・日本初演を含む100曲程の作品が演奏されます。日本、韓国、ミャンマーの伝統文化、日本を代表する3つのオーケストラとアジアの3人の指揮者、ドイツから現代音楽のエキスパート「アンサンブル・モデルン」、活発な活動を展開し始めた「上海新音楽団」。そして北京から天才画家・羅鐸さんを迎え、力強い《愛》のメッセージを贈る「21世紀の子どもたちへ」等々。<躍動する音たち>をテーマに開催されるこの音楽祭は、多くの作曲家、演奏家、音楽学者を始め、世界各地の人々との交流の場となる事でしょう。この出会いを通して21世紀の新たなる創造の文化が発信されることと確信しております。

"Rejoicing Sounds"
No other period in the history has changed more dynamically than 20th century. Thanks to the high-technology and informationalzing, now we are having the time of "Harmony" and "Creation" of new cultures, through the past, the time of "Encounter" and "Exchange"
Established in 1973, "Asian Composers League" has been positively introducing Asian traditional and modern cultures to the music scene which grew mainly in the western culture. Besides having given the opportunities to open their eyes to the world music, ACL has continued to present significant musical elements tied to the 21st century. Our 'Conference and Festival' has been held in turn in eleven countries and areas by member organizations and it is the 21st that we have in Japan. I gladly announce you that 'Vietnam Association of Composers and Musicians' declares their intention to get affitiated to us on this opportunity, which I hope will make new encounter in art.
We "Asian Music Week 2000 in Yokohama" Committee has made great effort to hold a music festival leading to the 21st century, with the invitation of 'the 21st Asian Composers League Conference and Festival' in the memorial year, 2000. In addition to the traditional music of Japan, Korea, Myanmar, estimated 100 works are selected among as many as 350 works from various Asian area and will be performed by three representative orchestra with three Asian conductors, 'Ensemble Modern' from Germany, the expert of contemporary music, and the active 'Shanghai New Ensemble', including their premieres in Japan or in the world. We also have the concert named 'To children in the 21st century' with the genius painter LUO Zheng from Beijing. We expert that this festival with the theme of "Rejoicing Sounds" will be a communication space for not only many composers, performers, musicologists but people from the world. I am sure that the new culture in 21st century will appear from this encounter in the festival.
