アジア作曲家連盟名誉会員 韓国ソウル大学音楽学部名誉教授
アジア作曲家連盟の第21回総会及び音楽祭を兼ねて「アジア音楽週間」が横浜で盛大に開催されることを慶祝し、その成功をお祈り申し上げます。
さて、アジア作曲家連盟の創立以来約30年の間、多くの作曲家達が特色に富む自国の音楽的遺産を現代化する事によって、仲間達、音学を愛する多くの人々と共に、生産的な結果を生み出したということは、誰も否定できない事実だと思います。
この度、ニューミレニアムを迎え、アジア音楽の伝統と現代に関心を注いできた主催者がアジア音楽の様相を総括的に展望する趣旨でこの音楽祭を企画主催することによりアジアの音楽をますます〔躍動する音〕として国際的に発展させえることを期待する次第です。さらに、次回の「第22回アジア作曲家連盟大会」は、日本と共にワールドカップが開催される韓国で、2002年5月に行われることが決まりました。皆様との再会を楽しみに今回ご苦労なさった主催者の皆様に心からのお祝いと感謝を申し上げます。

It is my great pleasure to congratulate on the coincidental grand opening of [Asian Music Week 2000 in Yokohama] and [21st Asian Composers' League Conference & Festival], and pray for their big success.
No one would deny the fact that many composers, during nearly thirty years since the establishment of Asian Composers' League, have achieved productive result by modernizing plenty of characteristics in their musical heritages together with the fellow musicians as well as many music lovers.
In the year of new millennium, it is expected that the sponsors showed deep concern in the tradition and modern of Asian music has planed to hold this festival in order to view an aspect of Asian music and to increase their friendly relations so that promote them more internationally as if "Rejoicing Sounds".
In addition, Next ACL Festival is scheduled on May of 2002 in Korea providing the world Cup Game under the co-sponsorship of Japan, looking forwards to joyful reunion.
Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of organizing body, and to all those who spared on efforts in making this event a truly memorable one.
