Health check-up for infants |
Anytime, at a medical facility in the prefecture |
Involves checking the general health of an infant when they are around one month old, and when they are between 6 and 10 months old. This service is free of charge. |
Dental check for infants |
Anytime, at a dental office in the city cooperating |
This can be conducted when the child is between 18 months and 2 years old and again when the child is between 3 and 4 years of age. |

Scheduled Immunizations
The following immunizations are recommended in Japan. An immunization notification will be sent out at the relevant time. English, Spanish and Portuguese help is available if required.

Collective vaccination at public halls. If your child can not receive a vaccination on the assigned date, please select another date on the Koho Toyota or Toyota city hall web site. Portuguese interpreters are available in the Homi area.

Individual vaccinations are conducted at local medical institutions. Make an appointment once you have received a coupon.
What to bring
The immunization coupon, The Mother and Child Health Handbook (Boshi techo), a clinical thermometer and a record of child's normal temperature as well as his/her temperature the day before the immunization.
Fee
Free of charge. However, you will be charged if your child is over the recommended age.
Before receiving the immunization
Please read carefully through the instructions and information provided with the notification. If you have any questions regarding your child's health condition, feel free to consult a physician. (see page 37)
Instructions in foreign languages
Immunization instruction is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Optional Immunization
Influenza, Mumps, Chickenpox, Hepatitis B, etc. are optional immunizations. Setting up appointment and cost are the parents responsibility.

(3) Medical subsidy for babies and infants
If you are a medical insurance holder, financial assistance is provided by the city for the medical expenses of a child who has not yet entered elementary school. (until march 31st after he or she turns 6 years old) Please forward a childbirth certificate or change of address to the Toyota City Hall in order to receive the child's health insurance card. You can apply for a medical care certificate for the child upon receipt of the child's health insurance card. Please contact the Citizens' Division main or branch office and the Living and Welfare Division at the city hall.
・Please be aware of the following regarding the medical care certificate.
1. Present the medical care certificate with the health insurance card when you go to a medical institute within Aichi prefecture.
2. Medical treatments which are outside of the medical stipend (health checks, immunization or special medical expenses) are not covered.
3. You will receive a refund if you go to a medical institute outside of Aichi prefecture.

There are several methods of receiving financial assistance regarding child care for people who are of the national pension scheme. Please request certification when you qualify for it through giving birth or moving into Toyota. (contact Children's Division) These benefits are dependent on income.
