Resolutions for ISO/TC 108/SC2
 
1) WG 3 has considered comments from national standard bodies on DIS 14963 and has made appropriate editorial changes. It recommends SC2 to bring forward the revised document as a FDIS. The convener will deliver the document to SC2 within two months.
 
2) WG 3 has considered comments from national standard bodies on CD 18649 and has made appropriate changes. It recommends SC2 to bring forward the revised document as a DIS. The convener will deliver the document to SC2 before the end of October 2002.
 
3) WG 3 recommends that document WD 16950 be maintained at stage 0 level.
 
4) WG 3 thanks Bentley Nevada for the help and hospitality that has been afforded to us.

Minutes of ISO TC 108/SC 2/WG 3 - Bently Nevada - 8 and 9 May 2002
1. The meeting opened at 13:30 and the convener introduced the chairman of TC108, Mr. Bruce Douglas.
2. Apologies (DH)
3. Minutes of the meeting in Berlin 2001. These were accepted as a true and accurate record of the proceedings.
4. Matters arising. These were covered in agenda items.
5. ISO/DIS 14963 - the comments received from national standard bodies were reviewed and agreement reached on the response of WG 3. Particular note was taken of the comments from Norway that accompanied their negative vote. These comments, apart from the first, were largely editorial and the document was amended appropriately. The convener would prepare a letter for DH to be sent to the appropriate person within the Norwegian standards body thanking Norway for its comments and explaining the reasons why some comments were rejected.
6. It was reported that there had been no progress on WD 16950 and it was agreed
that the work would be set to stage O. Mr. Sharif undertook to produce a new
document within two months.
7. Reports on liaison with other committees.
a. A. Sharif reported progress on DIS 14837, which would be submitted shortly for FDIS.
b. M. T. Tantawy reported briefly on activities of WG 24 and 25.
c. The convener reported on forthcoming activities of TC 98/WG 9 on the revision of the standard on vibration and serviceability of structures that will be meeting later this year probably in London.
8. ISO 4866. The convener reported that he had examined the annexes to the document and felt that they need some updating. M. Tantawy agreed to review the document as a whole and report back to the next meeting of the WG on the section that needed to be revised. There was some discussion as to whether to develop in this document an updated section dealing with the methods of vibration measurement.
9. DIS 18649. The group examined the document N356 in the light of national comments in document 275 and a set of responses prepared by Toshi Oshima the document was revised appropriately. Mr. Gellately would produce some words on uncertainty. It was decided to maintain the revised annexes A, B and C. It was agreed that the document would be ready for circulation as a DIS following the receipt by Toshi Oshima and the convener of agreed changes before October 2002.
10. AOB.
a. It was agreed that the convener would approach Prof. Ruecker to revive a suggestion that he made at Odense that a 'toolbox' standard for data analysis.
b. There was discussion on the need for a standard going into some detail on the procedures for vibration measurements on structures and the ground. Mr. Tantawy would see if this could be done in a revision of 4866.
c. Mr. Douglas reported extensively on the progress in related committees and WGs, particularly WG 26 and 27 and on the revision of ISO 2041, Vocabulary. It was agreed that the convener would liaise with Mr. M. Gross, convener of TC 1008/WG 1, in regard to ISO 2041.
11. The resolutions were prepared for SC 2 and are attached.
12. Date and place of next meeting. DH reported that an invitation had been received from Croatia M Gellately noted that it would be desirable that WG 3 and WG 8 should meet together. It had been suggested in WG 8 that a meeting in Norway would be convenient but no invitation had been received.

ISO TC 108/SC2/WG7 made following resolution at Minden meeting:
(1) According to the discussion at the Minden meeting on the redesign/restructure of WD 14839-3, titled Evaluation of stability margin, Mr. Matsushita and Prof. Maslen will prepare the revision by the mid of July. The revised part 3 will be discussed at the next meeting to be held in Mito-city, Japan, on 28/29 Aug, 2002.
 
(2) The CD 14839-2, titled Evaluation of vibration, is now on the voting due to 15-07-02. The next Mito meeting will treat also this revision of part 2 for responding comments provided from each country.
