History
Toyohashi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (ex. Kanasashi Co., Ltd.) was established in Osaka in july 1903, and its shipyard was moved to Shimizu City in 1908, and began constructing a newbuilding yard for large tankers in Toyohashi, which was completed in 1974 and in October 1982, the company joined the Kurushima Dockyard group. On the beginning of 2003, the shipyard renamed as "Toyohashi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd." and at the same time spun off shimizu Factory.
Features
As a member of the Shin Kurushima Dockyard group, the shipbuilder constructs medium-size merchant ships of around 200 m in overall length (including container ships, car carriers and bulk carriers). Availing itself of its large shipbuilding facilities, the company will continue to develop new favorite ship types in its endeavor to remain a shipyard that can survive the international competition in whatever business environment and strengthen its viability.

Sasebo Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. was established in
1946 with its main operational center being the former Sasebo Naval Base.
