The Sasakawa Young Leaders Scholarship Program

SYLFF Program:
Graduate students studying at the university with high potential for future leadership in international affairs, public life or private endeavor will be recommended to receive fellowships. The fellowships are awarded to outstanding students majoring in social sciences and humanities fields and whose studies relate to the environment, international affairs, and economic development. Fellowships are also awarded to students conducting research work abroad.
Selection Process:
The SYLFF endowment is shared by VNU, Hanoi and VNU, Hochiminh City.
Applicants for fellowships submit applications to their university which conducts a pre-selection and forwards recommended applications to the SYLFF Steering Committee. Selection is based on the following criteria: academic excellence, leadership potential, ability to conduct independent research, creativity, and contribution to the subject area. The total annual fellowships are approximately US$10,000 for twenty students who study within Vietnam, and US$24,000 for two students studying abroad.
