Master's and Doctoral Program of International Studies
 
SYLFF Program:
Fellowships are awarded to students enrolled in foreign languages, international negotiations, societal and organizational development, and area studies.
 
Selection Process:
The SYLFF fellowship program is advertised yearly in the university and the student newspapers, and with posters on campus; detailed information is also available on the web. Selection is based on academic achievement and the quality of the proposed project and references. The selection committee comprises four representatives from: the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Social Science, International Relations Office, and student parliament. Interviews are not conducted. To date over one hundred fifty (150) students have been awarded SYLFF fellowships.

Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Program
 
SYLFF Program:
Master's degree students in the social sciences and humanities receive fellowships for studies in the behavioral sciences, economics, education, geography, history, and philosophy.
 
Selection Process:
SYLFF fellowships are awarded to the best graduate students in the social sciences and humanities. There is no application process, as the recipients are selected from the entire student body on the basis of overall academic achievement. Fellowships amount to a full tuition fee (US$2,300) and a monthly stipend of US$600. Ninety-eight (98) students have received SYLFF fellowships to date.
