ROLES AND FUNCTIONS OF A REGIONAL COORDINATOR.
* Liaise with SOF in all activities involving WMU - Sasakawa fellows
* Maintaining and updating a distribution list for all members.
* Fostering close links with all organs of the network i.e. SOF, WMU and country representatives.
* Organise annual regional meetings.
* Liaise with country representatives.
* To coordinate undertakings of projects and researches and any other activities conducted by fellows
* Seeking WMU - Sasakawa fellows network recognition by the respective government and other non-organizational bodies (NGO's).
 
Selection Procedure: By majority votes.
 
Terms of appointment: Two years.
REGIONAL COORDINATOR SELECTED: Mr Musa Hassan Musa, Kenya
FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVES:
* Develop a platform for constant exchange of information/ideas.
* To provide an avenue/channel for discussions on vital issues related to maritime industry.
* To provide maritime expertise (Technical advise) to the community.
* To create, develop and update a distribution list of fellow members.
* To seek Network recognition in our respective countries.
* To encourage research and development on matters relating to maritime and related activities.
DECISION MAKING
It will be based on;
* Consensus
* Voting by majority
PROCEDURES FOR MAINTAINING AND UPDATING MEMBERS CONTACTS
* Maintaining constant communication with all members
* Incase of any changes in address, working place etc, members should immediate communicate to the regional coordinator.
* By liaison with WMU and/or SOF on current fellows particulars
PROCEDURES FOR REPORTING TO SOF
 Through annual report and after completion of any activity conducted by fellows.
ISSUES TO BE DISCUSSED:
* Identification of all the convention regarding maritime which have not yet been ratified or implemented within our countries.
* Establishment of action plan by contributing ideas and recommendations to respective governments.
* Monitoring and evaluation of ratification and implementation the identified issues in a given time frame.
PROCEDURE FOR CONTACT.
* Through e-mail and letters.
PROPOSALS TO SOF:
* To facilitate research and development activities
* To assists in income generating projects so as to empower the network to be able to fund and sponsor seminars or future WMU students.
* To support the global recognition of WMU - Sasakawa Fellows.
